The Kentucky Wildcats are still one of the betting favorites to win the 2019 NCAA Tournament.
The latest odds from Westgate Superbook have the Cats tied with the Duke Blue Devils for the best odds to win it all next season at +500 odds. The two blue bloods will kick off the 2018-19 season, which could end with them facing off in the Final Four.
Not far behind are the Kansas Jayhawks and Gonzaga Bulldogs (+700), then the Nevada Wolf Pack (+1200).
The Tennessee Volunteers have the SEC’s second-best odds at +2500, followed by the Florida Gators and Auburn Tigers at +4000. While not great, it does show that the SEC will once again be very competitive for the Cats to get through, especially since they’ll have at least six matchups with those three teams.
While Westgate is high on the Cats, Bovada is not anymore. After they initially had Kentucky as the favorite following Reid Travis’ commitment, Bovada how now downgraded Kentucky’s odds to +800, trailing the likes of Duke (+500), Gonzaga (+700) and Kansas (+750).
While it may be early to call Kentucky a co-favorite to win it all, they definitely should be higher than the fourth-best odds to win it all. Thankfully, none of this really matters in the long run.
In October of 2017, Villanova had the 12th-best odds to win the 2018 NCAA Tournament. They finished the season far and away the best team in college hoops, which this Kentucky team has the potential to do if everyone stays healthy.
