Kentucky officially has an unofficial opponent for the 2019-20 season.

Former Kentucky big man Walter McCarty, who is now the coach of Evansville, announced informally that he’d return to Rupp Arena for a road game against the Wildcats in 2019, according to Pat Hickey on Twitter.

McCarty was a National Champion at Kentucky on the 1996 team. Following that, he was drafted by the New York Knicks in the first round.

McCarty played a decade in the NBA, spending most of his time in the league with the Boston Celtics. He averaged 5.2 points and 2.6 rebounds per game over the course of his career.

McCarty’s Purple Aces went 17-15 last year, 7-11 in the Missouri Valley Conference, which placed them eighth in the league.

This is the fourth scheduled game for UK in 2019-20. The Wildcats also have Michigan State (Champions Classic), Utah, Louisville and Ohio State on the schedule thus far.
