Mark Stoops has made back-to-back bowl games, and with the current state of the Kentucky football program, that’s pretty damn good.
CBS Sports’ Dennis Dodd has recognized that in his college football hot seat rating, but he still doesn’t give Stoops a ton of job security. Dodd has Stoops listed in his “start improving now” category, which doesn’t sound great, but it’s better than the “win or be fired” category.
The hope around Kentucky certainly is that Stoops will continue to improve after getting back-to-back seven-win seasons. But seven-win seasons are considered quality seasons for this program, and another one for Stoops this year probably wouldn’t add much heat. I’d say Stoops fits more in the “All good ... for now” category.
You can look at Dodd’s full list here, which rates every Division I FBS coach.
