For some reason, there were some Kentucky fans who had a false hope that the Wildcats would not continue with the checkerboard uniforms this year.
That hope was destroyed yesterday when the program posted some photos of players in uniform on their Instagram story.
The photos on Kentucky basketball’s Instagram story that I guess indicate that the checkerboard jerseys will be back next year: pic.twitter.com/a0KHHf0P2K— Jeremy Chisenhall (@JSChisenhall) July 21, 2018
Perhaps the fact that Tennessee got rid of the checkerboard on its football jerseys raised some hope? I’m not sure. But Kentucky athletics director Mitch Barnhart had addressed this before and made it clear that he and the staff liked the checkerboard designs.
To me, the checkerboard isn’t terrible (and the outrage this has caused isn’t rational), but the pattern seems to look oversized on the blue jerseys.
What are your all’s thoughts on the checkerboard returning?
