What is the biggest recruiting need for UK in the 2019 class?

The Cats already have a promising class, but what is it’s biggest remaining need?

ESPN’s Jeff Borzello recently broke down each team’s biggest need in the 2019 class, and unsurprisingly, he wrote that Kentucky’s biggest need is a big man in the class.

With Kentucky already having commitments from point guard Tyrese Maxey and wing DJ Jeffries, adding a big man makes perfect sense, hence Kentucky’s pursuit of James Wiseman and Vernon Carey Jr.

Here is what Borzello had to say:

1. Kentucky: Post player

John Calipari is already off to a strong start in 2019, nabbing five-stars Tyrese Maxey and D.J. Jeffries in the spring. And despite the talent on the roster, there’s a good chance Calipari won’t need to go out and get four or five guys next spring. There are enough perimeter reinforcements even if a couple of players leave early, but Kentucky likely will need frontcourt help. Reid Travis has only one season in Lexington, while PJ Washington is likely leaving for the NBA after next season. Fortunately, Kentucky’s top target is No. 1 prospect James Wiseman, and the Wildcats are also after No. 2 Vernon Carey Jr. -- both centers.

Kentucky seems to be in pretty good shape with both big men. It would really be no surprise if they landed one of Wiseman and Carey at some point in this cycle.

However, Kentucky is in a situation where neither is a lock, and they could find themselves scrambling if Wiseman opts to stay home in Memphis and Carey picks Miami, Duke, Michigan St., etc.

Landing a couple big men in the class will be necessary for John Calipari and Co., but they seem to be in pretty good shape in that regard at this point in the recruiting cycle.

At the same time, with so many quality big man on the roster, that could lead to a guy like Nick Richards or EJ Montgomery returning for another year in 2019-20, which would greatly reduce the need for an impact big in 2019.

What do you think Kentucky’s biggest need in 2019 is?
