Kentucky Basketball Recruiting: Dontaie Allen sets visits with UK and Louisville

Allen is going to visit UK and Louisville back to back.

The Kentucky Wildcats have scored another visit from Dontaie Allen.

Allen, who is looking to become one of the rare Kentucky natives to earn an offer from John Calipari, will visit UK on August 1, then make a trip to see the Louisville Cardinals on August 13. Both visits are unofficial, according to Allen’s travel team.

Allen previously visited UK in June, which was also unofficial.

The 6-6 wing from Pendleton County is coming off a breakout junior season where he averaged 31.8 points per game on 59.1-percent shooting and shot 39.6 percent from deep. He also grabbed 11.4 rebounds per game.

He followed that up with a monster showing on the AAU circuit this summer, which had led to him scoring offers from the Cardinals, Florida Gators, Oklahoma Sooners, West Virginia Mountaineers, Virginia Tech Hokies and Purdue Boilermakers among many others.

While UK has yet to offer, they John Calipari and his staff have have been very interested to this point. The hope is UK will offer very soon, possibly during his latest visit. It’s very rare for a school to set up two visits with a recruit they don’t plan to offer.

Allen is currently ranked 81st overall in the 2019 class by 247 Sports as a four-star prospect, while Rivals has him all the way up at 46. ESPN only has a three-star grade on him.

Here are some highlights from Allen’s junior season:
