Of all the former Kentucky Wildcats participating in the NBA Summer League this year, Wenyen Gabriel has the most to prove. After going undrafted, Gabriel has to prove he belongs, and he took a big step toward doing that yesterday.
The former Kentucky forward was the definition of efficient for the Sacramento Kings’ summer team, scoring 15 points on 5-of-6 shooting (2 for 3 from 3-point range, 3 for 3 from the foul line). That’s 83 percent shooting from the field.
The Kings fell to the Miami Heat, 84-96, but Gabriel was a bright spot. If he can continue to put up that level of performance, he’ll go a long way in helping his odds of making the team.
