Kentucky Basketball Recruiting: Scottie Lewis makes very interesting comments about UK

Scottie Lewis is one of the best 2019 has to offer, and he’s been a big UK target for much of the past year.

Lewis, who hails from New Jersey, is ranked No. 10 nationally and listed as the No. 2 small forward, according to 247 Sports Composite. He already has offers from all of the major programs, including the Duke Blue Devils, Kansas Jayhawks, Florida Gators and Villanova Wildcats.

UK has been a major player in his recruitment thus far, and he just made some very interesting quotes about John Calipari’s program. In an interview with Corey Evans of Rivals.com, Lewis actually he would pick UK...on one condition.

“If I choose to be one of those players that is a one-and-done, basketball only type of guy, Kentucky is definitely the school that I will be headed to,” said Lewis. “All of the schools we have talked about, they will hopefully be in that list of schools that I get down to once I make a cut list, but they are always texting me and giving me pointers about what I can do better.”

Now, you can interpret that quote in one of two ways:

1. Lewis hopes to be a one-and-done player and may pick UK in hopes of having the best chance to reach his NBA dreams.
2. Lewis wants more from a school than just basketball, which would be bad news for UK since he seems to think that’s all their good for.

Who knows what this really means, but at least UK is still in the running for him either way.
