Thursday Quickies: DeWayne Peevy Edition

UK’s deputy director of athletics is a NEXT UP honoree.

Jeremy Chisenhall

Kentucky has had pretty solid success throughout its athletic department in recent years, and deputy director of athletics DeWayne Peevy is sharing in the success.

Peevy has been named the 2018 Adidas NEXT UP honoree, earning the honor thanks in part to his role in creating an inclusive environment where everyone contributes within UK athletics.

“I challenge my peers to share their opinion. I feel like it’s my part to motivate others, to share, and understand their opinion matters,” Peevy said, according to CollegeAD.com.

John Calipari also commented on Peevy in the CollegeAD.com story.

“I would say he’s one of the brightest I’ve been around. I trust him. As a matter of fact, he’s the only person I’ve given my schedule to,” Calipari said. “He oversees my schedule. I’ve never had that outside my office, in all my years of coaching. With him, though, I felt really comfortable.”
