John Calipari held his first practice with the 2018-19 Kentucky Wildcats today, going an hour and 15 minutes.
By NCAA rule, the team gets four hours a week. Calipari said he’d use all of that during his appearance in Midway Sunday. That’s not hard to believe considering he’s already used over 1⁄4 of it. After practice he posted a video to Twitter detailing how good he felt about the team after one practice.
“I was so excited to get started,” Calipari said. “This team today, it’s the beginning of learning how to practice. And I’ll tell you what, I’m feeling good. I mean, we’ve got a long way to go. But you’ve got an unbelievable group who’s receptive, who will compete. You know, we shoot the ball better than we have in awhile, where we’ve got a lot of different weapons to come at you, and still have some size and have some strength. So, for a first practice, wow, really good.”
The Wildcats have great expectations as they start practice. They’re the odds on favorite to win the National Championship next year, and they’re the preseason No. 1 team by most accounts.
Kentucky’s social media teams got some highlights up from the practice.
