The Kentucky Wildcats are back on the board in 2019 with another new pledge.
After landing Tra Wlkins earlier this week and Jay Ward earlier Friday, UK then scored a pledge from Taures Payne late Friday night, according to Justin Rowland.
A 6-4, 265-pound defensive end, Payne hails from Northwest Mississippi Community College. He held scholarship offers from the Maryland Terrapins, Houston Cougars and UCF Knights among others.
This past season, Payne racked up 33 tackles, 6.0 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks. He’ll likely stick to defensive end at UK. interestingly, offensive line coach John Schlarman is listed as the lead recruiter by Rivals.
UK now has nine commitments in the 2019 class, including Jay Ward, Tra Wilkins, Moses Douglass, KD McDaniel, Nik Scalzo, Jake Pope, Jalen Geiger, Eli Cox and Marquez Bembry.
