Tyrese Maxey expected to play vs Canada in Gold Medal Game

Maxey is set to make his return from injury.

USA Basketball

It looks like we’ll get one more chance to see Tyrese Maxey in the FIBA U18 Tournament.

This morning, USA head coach Bill Self told Adam Zagoria that Maxey was expected to play tonight. The point guard is recovering from an ankle sprain suffered Tuesday vs Puerto Rico. He has since missed the past two games, but it looks like he’ll give it a go in tonight’s Gold Medal Game.

The Americans finished 3-0 in pool play with Maxey making a big impact in all three games. Even if Maxey doesn’t play tonight, it’s just great to see this injury is nothing serious and should not keep him sidelined for the upcoming Peach Jam.

Check out some highlights of Maxey from USA’s win over the Dominican Republic.
