Tyrese Maxey is currently the crowned jewel of Kentucky’s 2019 class, but he’s trying to change that himself.
The five-star guard is trying to recruit five-star power forward Matthew Hurt to join him in Lexington, according to Larry Vaught.
“He is really, really good,” Maxey said of Hurt, according to Vaught. “He can shoot, especially for a guy his size. He’s very versatile. He can guard anywhere from the one to the four. At the end of the day, he has to make the college decision that is best for him but I hope he ends up in Lexington.”
Hurt and Maxey are playing together for Team USA in the U18 FIBA World Championship in Canada.
Hurt is the No. 4 player in the 2019 class and holds 18 offers. Kentucky is one of the teams to offer, and Hurt has praise for Calipari you can read more about in Vaught’s interview.
Hurt’s other offers include the Louisville Cardinals, Kansas Jayhawks, North Carolina Tar Heels and Florida Gators.
