Kentucky Basketball Recruiting: UK keeping in contact with R.J. Hampton and N’Faly Dante

The Wildcat coaching staff is doing the early work on its 2020 class, though Hampton could move into 2019.

The Kentucky coaching staff is well into its 2019 recruiting class and is now showing interest in 2020 guys. That includes five-star prospects N’Faly Dante and R.J. Hampton.

Hampton is a five-star point guard, who, according to Pat Lawless, received a call from UK assistant Tony Barbee on Friday.

Hampton is the No. 4 player in the 2020 class by 247 Sports’ rankings. Hailing from Little Elm, Texas, he the 6-4 guard has 13 offers. That includes offers from the Duke Blue Devils, Kansas Jayhawks, Mississippi State Bulldogs and LSU Tigers. Kentucky has not yet offered. Duke is currently the favorite in Hampton’s Crystal Ball.

But, an offer from John Calipari could come at any time. There has been rampant speculation that Hampton could move into the 2019 class, where UK already has Tyrese Maxey and is strongly looking at Jalen Lecque and Kira Lewis.

As for Dante, he is a five-star big man who also heard from Kentucky on Friday, according to Andrew Slater.

The 6-11 center is ranked the No. 10 player in his class by 247 Sports. He has five offers, and Kentucky is one of them. The others are Kansas, LSU, the Oklahoma State Sooners and the St. John’s Red Storm.

Kentucky has extended just two offers for 2020, one to Dante and one to five-star wing Scottie Barnes.
