Wenyen Gabriel’s decision to go pro surprised some due to the fact that he’s not likely to get selected in the upcoming NBA Draft. But he’s at least getting a shot to show his worth with NBA workouts.
Gabriel has workouts setup with the Toronto Raptors, Philadelphia 76ers, Detroit Pistons and Charlotte Hornets, according to Adam Zagoria.

Gabriel isn’t currently a projected draft pick on any major mock drafts. These workouts are likely to see if Gabriel would make for a good undrafted free agent signing after the draft is over.
Gabriel’s strength, which he’ll look to show off during these workouts, is his ability to stretch the floor catch-and-shoot from 3-point range. He highlighted that most with a 7 for 7 3-point performance against the Alabama Crimson Tide in the SEC Tournament.
Of the teams that Gabriel is working out for, Charlotte is the only one that currently has a former Wildcat. The Hornets have Malik Monk and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist on their roster. Derek Willis did play for Detroit’s G-League team this year.
At this point, it looks like Gabriel is going to end up in either the G-League or overseas this fall. Depending on how far away he thinks he is from making an NBA roster, may opt to play for a G-League team in hopes of getting a call up at some point during the upcoming season.
