Kentucky Basketball Recruiting: Will UK get involved with Jaden McDaniels?

McDaniels continues to rise, while UK’s involvement is still unknown.

Jaden McDaniels continues to impress college coaches and recruiting analysts on the summer circuit.

And while McDaniels definitely has some interest in Kentucky, it is unsure exactly how involved Kentucky is.

“I’d be interested,” he told Ben Roberts of the Lexington Herald-Leader. “A lot of pros came out of there, and they’re a great school. It would mean a lot, just because of the history. To get an offer from Kentucky, that’s something big.”

McDaniels was recently invited to try out for the Team USA U18 squad and while he didn’t make the final cut, he showed the type of player that he can be and drew a lot of attention.

He’s done the same on the Nike summer circuit, averaging 19.2 points and 9.3 rebounds per game.

“He’s a guy with size, length, versatility and a really improving skill set,” 247Sports national analyst Evan Daniels told the Herald-Leader. “The spring is a time where we get to see a lot of guys, and he’s made a pretty significant improvement over the last year.”

Daniels being on the west coast could be a factor, but Kentucky has had some success recruiting out west in the past, while other times not having much luck. It remains to be seen how much of a factor that will be.

What is certain is that McDaniels has some interest in Kentucky. It will be interesting to see how much Kentucky prioritizes him in the class.
