Kentucky Wildcats Recruiting: Kofi Cockburn interested in UK

Cockburn is the real deal, and UK has shown prior interest.

UK is hard at work building their 2019 class.

We already know about their top frontcourt targets in this class, including Matthew Hurt, Vernon Carey and James Wiseman. However, there’s another rising big man that could be catching UK’s eye.

Kofi Cockburn.

In an interview with Flo Hoops, Cockburn said he hopes to hear from big-name schools like UK going forward.

Cockburn recently picked up offers from Kansas and Tennessee but said he wants to hear from the “blue blood schools” -- Kentucky, Duke and North Carolina.

Back in January, Adam Zagoria reported that UK was interested in Cockburn.

The 6-11, 248-pound center from Christ The King (NY) is ranked 31st in 2019 by Rivals, while ESPN has him at 38th. He’s been one of the biggest risers in 2019 since last fall, partly because he’s gotten his weight down after tipping the scales at 300 pounds.

Cockburn has actually been the top rebounder in the Nike EYBL at 11.2 boards per game. Among the many schools to offer him thus far include Kansas, Auburn, Florida State, LSU, Miami, Oregon, UCLA and Virginia Tech.

If Cockburn keeps up his big spring, it will be hard for UK not to offer him a scholarship.

Oh, and can you imagine having Cockburn and Hurt in the same frontcourt?

Make it happen, Cal.

Here are some recent highlights of Cockburn at the Nike EYBL:
