I had seats in the Grandstands for Oaks yesterday but I made my way out into the infield to survey my old college stomping grounds. That’s Nick Roush from KSR in the background dressed as a hillbilly. It’s something I would have done.

I know I’m biased but I think I had the prettiest date at th track.

One year ago today Kevin Knox shocked us all.
Here’s a look at your #Derby day forecast from the @WAVE3Weather team. Dress for rain. pic.twitter.com/4m0AIAMqqT

Looks like the rain tapers off as the day goes on. Hopefully it won’t be so bad once the crowd fills in and the parties really kick off.
Rajon Rondo joined some elite company on Friday night, becoming only the 3rd player in NBA history to record multiple 20-assist games in the postseason pic.twitter.com/gn3LUnTx4a

If not for some personailty issues along the way, Rondo would have been a Hall-of-Famer.
Quickies
Zan Payne commits to Cats | SEC Country- The son of assistant coach Kenny Payne will be a walk-on for the Kentucky Wildcats next season. Unless Payne gets job offer he cannot turn down, I think this locks him in for the next four years. This is a big deal.
UK loses to Vols in series opener | UK Athletics- The Wildcats cannot seem to get a sweep but they will have more opportunities to win the series. Sean Hjelle got the loss yesterday and drops to 6-4 on the season. The Cats will play again today in Knoxville at 6:00 PM.
Wenyen Gabriel not invited to Draft | SEC Country- Gabriel was the only Wildcat that has declared for the draft that did not get invited to the combine. There is a chance that he could be invited later as an alternate but I think this is a clear indication that NBA scouts do not think is ready for the Association. I expect him back unless he decides to embark on a career overseas.
My Boy Jack is the hot Derby bet | Courier-Journal- The colt went from 30-1 to 5-1 over the course of the day yesterday. He has the second best odds to win after Justify.
Pelicans rout Warriors | CBS- New Orleans blew out the Warriors 119-100 in the Big Easy. Rajon Rondo dished out 21 assists and Jrue Holiday scored 21. But the story was Anthony Davis going for 33 and 18 in points and rebounds.
I think we can point to this incident as the catalyst for the Pelicans. Rajon Rondo is not to be trifled with:

Draymond Green stays being the biggest punk in the game.
Dodgers get a combined no-hitter in Mexico | ESPN- Is it really impressive that it took three pitchers for a no-hitter/shutout? I’m not a seamhead so any help here would be appreciated.
Albert Pujols joins 3,000 bit club | Sporting News- The Angels may have signed Pujols to a ridiculous deal near the end of his prime but at least they get the pub for his milestones!
Rockets smother Jazz | CBS- The Rockets won 113-92 and it wasn’t even that close. I’m all for the Jazz losing because I’m sick of UofL fans pretending to like the NBA because of Donovan Mitchell after years of dismissing it and ridiculing Kentucky fans for taking pride in our NBA players.
Solo presales double Black Panther’s | Variety- Even though there were script changes, a director change, and worries about the lead character’s acting ability, it seems Solo is primed for another big haul for the Star Wars franchise. I’m skeptical. The Force Awakens was good, Rogue One was OK, and I thought the Last Jedi was hot garbage. None of the new films have blown me away. I’m hoping Solo can do it because I really like the cast.
