The recruitment of Tyrese Maxey is coming to an end.
The five-star point guard will make his college decision next Wednesday, he announced on Twitter. Maxey also revealed his top five, which include the Kentucky Wildcats, Michigan Wolverines, Michigan State Spartans, Oklahoma State Cowboys and Texas Longhorns.
Maxey, who hails from South Garland High School in Texas, is ranked No. 13 overall in the 2019 class by the 247 Sports Composite in addition to being the No. 2 point guard, ironically behind Ashton Hagans, who will likely move into 2018.
The 6-3, 185-pound guard already holds offers from his five finalists among many others. He visited UK for Big Blue Madness. He’s since been visited by John Calipari multiple times while other coaches have watched him on the recruiting circuit.
Maxey is currently one of the top players in 2019, but over the last month, there has been rampant speculation that he was set to move into the 2018 class. He admitted he’s considering a move into 2018, and all the buzz recently is that he will pick UK and end up on the 2018-19 roster.
All of this is why it will be a shock if Maxey doesn’t pick UK and end up in Lexington when the 2018-19 college basketball season begins.
