For those that still are into auto racing, today is their day. Today is the day of the Indy 500, The Greatest Spectacle in Racing.
It’s also Danica Patrick’s final ride on the bricks. She’s retiring and it will be her last chance to win the biggest crown in all of racing.
When Danica burst onto the scene there was no one bigger in racing. She failed to live up to the hype and finished no higher than third in the Indy 500. Her transition to NASCAR wasn’t a smooth one and she was known more for her celebrity more than her racing ability.
But if she wins today she can put that all to bed.

Max putting The Last Jedi at three is almost unforgivable. It belongs down there with The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones. Rubbish. Pure rubbish.

Thank you @Bhinz25 @metzger_rachael and @Rethlake08 for incredible careers at Kentucky. You'll always be Wildcats. #Together #WhateverItTakes pic.twitter.com/2xIsKoE3ga
Helluva run, ladies. It’s not easy getting one game from Oregon, let alone two.
Quickies
More than ever the NBA is drafting for the future | Lexington Herald Leader- John Calipari called the NBA a ‘future’s league’ and he’s right. This is why guys like PJ Washington and Jarred Vanderbilt are in limbo with their decisions.
James Hampton dies at Nike EYBL | Charlotte Observer- In a tragic turn of events in Virginia, James Hampton, a senior in high school, collapsed as his Team United squad took on the Nike Phamily team. Hampton passed away. He suffered from seizures in the past. Prayers go out to all of those involved.
It all gets put into perspective when you witness a 17-year old collapse and pass on the court. Praying for James Hampton's family & Team United.

Tyrese Maxey a candidate for EYBL MVP | CatsPause- Maxey is one of eight finalists for the honor. His Houston Hoops team is 9-4 and Maxey is averaging 23.5 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 4.7 assists while shooting 50% from the floor.
UK Softball season ends | UK Athletics- It was a good run to Eugene but the Oregon Ducks were just too much in the final two games of the series. Rachel Lawson’s team won’t make it to the College World Series but the ladies had another stellar season.
Bat Cats sport strong resume | UK Athletics- There is some worry that Kentucky baseball may miss the NCAA tournament due to a poor end to the regular season. But hopefully the committee looks at the entire resume and factors in the injuries.
Don’t sleep on Gunnar Hoak | KSR- Terry Wilson made a splash when he committed because of his athleticism and his ties to a program like Oregon. But Hoak knows Eddie Gran’s system and he was a highly touted QB coming out of high school.
Klay Thompson leads Warriors in Game 6 win | ESPN- The Rockets had an early 39-22 lead and then the Warriors remembered they were the Warriors and shot lights out the rest of the way. Klay Thompson led the charge with 35 points in the 115-86 win. It also didn’t help the Rockets cause that Chris Paul was out and James Harden played one on one for the entire fourth quarter and had a zillion turnovers.
Kevin Love out for Game 7 | ESPN- It looks like LeBron James is going to have put up 60-20-12 in Boston as his best teammate is now out for the series finale. Should be one helluva game.
