Justify is one race away from Legend status, softball rocks, baseball not so much, and more.

Justify is one win away from the elusive Triple Crown. Once again on a wet and muddy track, Justify left no doubt as to which was the best horse on Saturday.

Amazingly, trainer Bob Baffert is 5-5 when he has a Derby winner heading into the Preakness. Baffert was able to break the decades old barrier of getting a Triple Crown winner with American Pharoah. Can he do it once again with Justify?

The Triple Crown races will conclude June 9th at the Belmont Stakes.

Tweets of the Day

Make of that what you will.

Kentucky softball had a big day on Saturday.

Quickies

Kentucky beats UIC in Grand Slam fashion | UK Athletics- In their first game of the Lexington regional, Rachel Lawson’s team left no doubt as Jenny Schaper’s grand slam lifted Kentucky 10-1 over Illinois-Chicago. But the ‘Cats weren’t done yet...

Cats blank Irish for second win of the day | UK Athletics- Kentucky finished up the double-header by destroying Notre Dame 10-0. Rachael Metzger hit a grand slam for the Cats to run rule the Fighting Irish in the fifth inning.

The Cats are now in the Regional final and will get two cracks at going to the Super Regional. They will play the winner of Michigan/Notre Dame today at 2:30 PM.

Kentucky baseball ends SEC regular season on sour note | UK Athletics- The Cats were swept in Nashville as the series against Vanderbilt wrapped up. Now they turn their eyes to the SEC tournament for some redemption. They open tournament play vs. Auburn on May 22nd at 2:00 PM.

Tom Jurich scores big win vs. UofL | WDRB- The former UofL athletic director was somewhat vindicated when it was determined that he firing was without cause. That means a lot of money for Jurich and no court battle between the two. Oh, and Tommy gets lifetime basketball and football tickets. He still holds a vice grip over that place.

Cleveland Cavaliers bounce back in big way | ESPN- LeBron James and his Cavs were down 2-0 heading to Cleveland and so far looked outclassed by the Boston Celtics. But last night James had 27 points and 12 assists in a 116-86 route.

Draft prospects compared to pros | CBS- Hamidou Diallo is compared to Zach LaVine. Here is the rationale:

Player archetype: Incredible athlete who needs to learn to become a basketball player,

2018 draft prospect: Hamidou Diallo, G, Kentucky

Why: Diallo is an incredible physical specimen: Out-of-this-world speed with out-of-this-gym leaping abilities. His 44.5-inch vertical at the combine a year ago was the second-highest in NBA combine history. And yet we still don’t know whether he’s just an Olympic track and field athlete masquerading as a basketball player or a real, actual basketball player who can become a student of the game. He was fine this past season for Kentucky -- he averaged 10 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.2 assists and shot 33.8 percent from 3 -- but his sky-high potential always left you wanting more. LaVine’s one-and-done stats at UCLA were frighteningly similar, by the way: 9.4 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.8 assists and shot 37.5 percent from 3.

If Hami can become LaVine, it would be a huge win for him.
