It wasn’t the way the Kentucky Baseball team wanted to end the regular season getting swept by the Vanderbilt Commodores and more than likely missing out on a chance to host a regional in the NCAA Tournament.
However, if the Cats can make some noise in the SEC Tournament, maybe just maybe they will play themselves back into a regional. Although, that most likely means going to Hoover and actually winning the SEC Tournament, but I wouldn’t count them out of it.
Kentucky is the 10th seed in the SEC Tournament after finishing the season with an overall record of 34-21 and a 13-17 record in conference play. Not exactly the season we expected out of the Cats after what transpired last year but it was still a good season and its not over yet.
The Cats will get their tournament play started on Tuesday May 22nd at approximately 2pm when they face off with the Auburn Tigers.
Auburn is the 7th seed in the tournament and went 37-19, 15-15 in sec play on the season. Kentucky played the Tigers in late March for a three-game series in Lexington at the Cliff. Kentucky won that series two games to one taking Game 1 5-4, losing Game 2 4-3, and winning the rubber match 13-3.
Needless to say, its been awhile since these teams saw each other and a lot has probably changed since they last met but when they take the field on Tuesday its going to be a battle.
All games can be seen on the SEC Network and this team needs the support from the BBN as they enter post season play.
Go Cats!
