A few weeks ago, John Calipari hinted at the Kentucky Wildcats adding a ‘destination’ game to their schedule.
That destination will be Las Vegas in 2019.
According to Bill Riley of ESPN 700, UK has agreed to a two-year series with the Utah Utes. UK will host the Utes in Rupp Arena next season. Then in 2019-20, the two teams will face off in Las Vegas.
Utah has enjoyed a resurgence under head coach Larry Krystkowiak, who took over the program in 2011 following two straight years of no postseason. Krystkowiak has since guided Utah to five-straight postseasons, including two trips to the NCAA Tournament.
This past season, Utah went 23-12 and finished as the NIT runner-up. Their last NCAA Tournament berth was in 2015-16.
This will prove to be a quality non-conference challenge for the Cats next season. Utah has won 20-plus games in each of the last five seasons.
