Toronto Raptors head coach and former Kentucky Wildcats guard Dwane Casey has been fired by Toronto, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports.
Toronto has fired coach Dwane Casey, league source tells ESPN.

Casey coached Toronto to a 59-23 record this season, the second-best in the league, but the Raptors needed six games to beat the Washington Wizards before being swept by LeBron James and the LeBron Jameses Cleveland Cavaliers. With it becoming apparent that the current cast can’t beat James no matter how many times they try, the Raptors felt it was time to make a move.
The irony in this is that Casey just won the National Basketball Coaches Association Coach of the Year award for the 2017-18 season.
The now-former Raptors head coach played for Kentucky during the Joe B. Hall days, as he was a four-year member of the team from 1975-76 to 1978-79. He won a National Championship as a member of the 1977-78 title team that went 30-2.
