Kentucky Basketball Recruiting: Evan Daniels picking UK for Ashton Hagans

Plus, Tyler Herro talks about Ashton Hagans, who he expects to be on UK’s roster next season.

Hoop Seen

Ashton Hagans to UK is becoming the worst-kept secret in, technically, two different classes.

Hagans is currently 247 Sports’ No. 6 overall recruit in the Class of 2019, but he’s widely expected to move into the 2018 class. Regardless of which class he ends up in, UK is viewed as the strong favorite.

That belief is even stronger now that Evan Daniels has made his prediction. The 247 Sports recruiting guru just logged his crystal ball prediction in favor of the Wildcats from Lexington.

As of Monday morning, UK has now received nine-straight picks for Hagans, and they lead his crystal ball with 77-percent of the predictions.

Daniels isn’t the only one who feels very confident Hagans becomes a Wildcat. Current UK signee Tyler Herro told KSR that he feels really good about Hagans ending up in Lexington.

“I think we’re in good hands as far as getting him here,” Herro said. “He’s just waiting on whether some guards leave, Shai (Gilgeous-Alexander) and Hami (Diallo), so we’ll see what happens with them. I think if they leave, we have a really good shot with him. I’m staying on him, Keldon (Johnson) is staying on him, so we’ll see what happens.”

Could Hagans announce as soon as today?

Adam Zagoria reported that could happen early Monday morning, though he has since updated the post to suggest an announcement could come Tuesday.

Not long after, Fletcher Page reported that there will be no decision this soon.

So while Hagans may not end up a Wildcat this soon, it sounds like it’s only a matter of time before it comes to fruition.
