We have some basketball recruiting news and this time it includes a hometown player.
First, the Cats are taking a visit to Fort Wayne, Indiana to check out a top 25 recruit; Keion Brooks. Kentucky is seeing him Friday night, according to Brian Snow.
Brooks is currently ranked 22nd overall, but expect that to change as he has become one of the standouts for the 2019 class. He currently holds offers from teams like Kentucky, Michigan State, Indiana, Kansas, Louisville, and Michigan. Clearly, he’s a very sought after recruit.
Keion weighs in at 185 pounds and stands at 6-8. He’s an extremely versatile player that can take it to the rack and hit the occasional jumper. He’s still a junior, so don’t expect any decision soon as there have been no signs of a commitment from him.
Next, the Cats are taking a trip to Pendleton, Kentucky to visit 2019 recruit Dontaie Allen, according to Jake Weingarten. Allen is currently ranked 233rd nationally and the fifth-best player in Kentucky.
Allen’s current offers include; IUPUI, Morehead State, Cincinnati, Winthrop, Tennessee, and Western Kentucky. You have to think that if Kentucky offers him, he’ll take it without question.
Don’t underestimate Dontaie’s talent though. He’s averaged 31.8 points and 11.4 rebounds as a junior while shooting 59.1 percent from the field, and 40% from the three-point line.
He weighs in at 180 pounds and stands in at 6-6. It would be great to see a hometown guy back at UK. The last time we’ve seen one was Derek Willis, and we all know how big of an impact he made during his Junior and senior year.
