UK Basketball Recruiting: Matthew Hurt getting visit from John Calipari

John Calipari will see one of the top players in the Class of 2019.

John Calipari is planning for a big couple of weeks on the recruiting trail, and most of it will be spent meeting with 2019 recruits.

According to Ryan James of Prep Hoops, Calipari will meet with five-star power forward Matthew Hurt on Friday.

A 6-11, 199-pound forward out of Rochester (MN), Hurt is ranked by 247 as the fourth-best player in 2019 in addition to being the top small forward. ESPN and Rivals have him tabbed fifth.

As you can imagine, Hurt’s frame still has a lot of filling out to do as he’s just around 200 pounds going into his senior season, but he’s a very skilled big man that can score in a variety of ways in the paint.

Hurt’s offer sheet includes UK, Louisville, Indiana, Duke, Kansas, North Carolina, Florida, Arizona, Oregon, Minnesota and Notre Dame among others. Seeing that many big-name programs already offering a 2019 prospect shows just how much potential Hurt has.

For now, Kansas leads the way in Hurt’s 237 Crystal Ball, while North Carolina and Minnesota also have picks.

In addition to Hurt, Calipari and/or members of his staff are set to meet with 2018 five-star forward EJ Montgomery, 2019 five-star guard Bryan Antoine and 2019 five-star guard Scottie Lewis in the coming days and weeks.
