What does John Calipari have up his sleeve now?
In case you missed it, the Kentucky Wildcats are expected to land Tyrese Maxey this week, and it’s likely he reclassifies into the 2018 class. He would then likely join Ashton Hagans, another 2019 guard expected to reclassify into 2018.
But amid all this reclass madness, there have been yet another 2019 guard mulling over a move into 2018. That would be Jalen Lecque, who’s been drawing interest from UK, but to this point, no offer had came.
That is, until now. According to Andre Slater, Lecque has scored an offer from UK. He’s previously said it’s a 50-50 call right now if he moves into 2018 or stays in 2019.
The Class of 2019 guard is ranked 12th overall in his class in addition to being the second-best combo guard via 247 Sports. He’s ranked 10th by ESPN and ninth by Rivals.
Villanova, Kansas, Louisville, Texas, Florida and Oregon are among the many schools that have offered, while Duke, North Carolina and UK have shown interest.
Now that UK has offered, it will be interesting to see what he plans on doing in terms of his class. It would be ideal for UK if he sticks in 2019, as they have too many backcourt options as it is if Maxey and Hagans are in Lexington next season.
