One of the biggest risers in the spring recruiting season has been Aidan Igiehon.
The 6-10, 215-pound big man from Woodmere (NY) is playing with Team Rio in the Under Armour Association, and he’s having a big spring that’s catching everyone’s attention.
According to Jon Hale of the Louisville Courier-Journal, the Kentucky Wildcats and Duke Blue Devils are the latest to get involved.
“Duke and Kentucky is into it now, said Igiehon. “They basically wanted to see me this past live period. I’m looking to cut my list down soon.”
Igiehon actually plays on the same AAU team as UK targets Scottie Lewis and Bryan Antoine, but while they get all the attention, Igiehon is proving to be a special player in his own right.
Igiehon already holds offers from the Louisville Cardinals, Florida Gators, USC Trojans, Villanova Wildcats, Oregon Ducks, Virginia Cavaliers and Indiana Hoosiers among many others. He previously said Louisville, Oregon, Stanford and USC were recruiting him the hardest.
Rivals.com ranks Igiehon 23rd overall as a power forward the in the Class of 2019. ESPN has him at 38th overall as a power forward, while 247 Sports has him at 42nd as a center.
Igiehon had a big showing on the first night of UAA action this weekend, and 247 Sports’ Brian Snow called him one of the biggest standouts:
One of the truly elite players in the country, Igiehon continued his monster spring with another 20 and 10 double-double performance. Possessing excellent hands, good athleticism, and impressive strength, Igiehon dominated on the glass and finished everything around the rim.
If he keeps up his big spring, John Calipari may need to start making him more of a priority in 2019.
