Class of 2020 guard Ethan Morton (ranked 59th in the class by 247 Sports composite) continues to garner interest from the Kentucky Wildcats.

Morton recently spoke with 247’s Chris Fisher about Kentucky’s involvement in his recruitment.

“I haven’t talked to [Calipari] extensively but I know for one thing he likes my leadership, just calling the shots on the floor,” Morton said. “He told me the game is moving toward longer, bigger guards that can do a lot of things: pass, shoot, handle the ball and play multiple positions so that was a positive for me to hear.”

The 6’4 guard, who holds offers from the likes of Virginia, Pittsburgh, Ohio State, West Virginia, Stanford and Wisconsin, among others, said he recently spoke to Calipari over the phone and Calipari gave him his recruiting pitch for Kentucky.

“Just how just Kentucky is really tough and it’s not for everybody but the success rate of putting guys in the league and having a family atmosphere and all that stuff is just awesome,” Morton told Fisher.

Morton said he is intrigued by Calipari’s local ties. Calipari grew up about 30 miles from Morton’s high school.

Morton played with fellow Kentucky recruit, 2019 (could later be 2018) guard Jalen Lecque, where he averaged 6 points, 4.3 rebounds, and just under two assists per game last weekend.

That was Morton’s Nike EYBL debut, so expect to see more out of him in the near future. It will also be interesting to see how Kentucky’s recruitment of Morton continues to develop.
