Some good and bad news is coming out of Dallas this weekend.
That’s where the recruiting world is centered on right now for the Nike EYBL and Under Armour Association. It’s where John Calipari and his staff are hard at work trying to find future Kentucky Wildcats.
That’s something Tyrese Maxey is very likely to become. The latest indication of this is 247 recruiting guru Evan Daniels logging a crystal ball pick in favor of UK for this five-star guard.
Daniels has been the top predictor for recruitments, and when he logs a pick, it’s usually a sign that said recruit is about to commit soon.
Daniels recently suggested that Maxey could decide soon, so perhaps it’s only a matter of time now before he becomes a Cat.
The news is not as good with Bryan Antoine. Once thought to be a package deal with high school and AAU teammate Scottie Lewis, it now appears Antoine is trending heavily toward Duke.
Daniels just logged a prediction in favor of the Blue Devils, who now own 80 percent of the picks, while UK has just one.
Antoine, who’s ranked seventh overall in 2019 by 247 Sports Composite, is competing this weekend at the UAA in Dallas. John Calipari has watched Antoine and Lewis playing together with Team Rio.
UK is in better shape with Lewis for now, owning four of eight predictions. However, Duke coming on strong for Antoine could make them more attractive for Lewis is he really wants to team up with him again in college.
After all, those two along with Duke commit Joey Baker have a group text chat going, which also includes UK target Vernon Carey.
It’s also probably not good news for UK that fellow 247 recruiting expert Andrew Slater just logged a prediction in favor of VIllanova for Lewis. It’s now looking like the dream of having the Lewis-Antoine package deal in Lexington will remain only that.
