Kentucky Wildcats Recruiting: Jordan Brown still open to hearing from UK

If UK wants to make a run at Jordan Brown, he’ll listen. John Calipari actually coached Brown briefly last summer.

The Kentucky Wildcats appear to be set on who they want to finish out the 2018 class.

Entering the spring signing period, UK appears to be down to five-star power forward EJ Montgomery as the only true 2018 recruit they’re willing to add to this class.

They’re also open to adding potential reclassification targets in five-star center James Wiseman and five-star point guard Ashton Hagans.

But could there be a dark-horse recruit emerge in the coming weeks and even months?

Five-star power forward Jordan Brown is one of the top uncommitted recruits going into the spring, and he’s open to hearing from UK, as he told Ben Roberts of the Lexington Herald-Leader.

Would Brown listen to a late pitch from Kentucky?

“Of course, yeah. I would,” he said.

For now, the Stanford Cardinal, UCLA Bruins and Arizona Wildcats appear to be more logical choices for Brown, who hails from Napa, California.

UK head coach John Calipari actually got a chance to coach Brown briefly at the Team USA U19 tryouts this summer, but he was ultimately cut from the final team. There’s been no reported interest from either side since then, though Brown did impress Calipari at the tryouts.

And if UK were to lose Jarred Vanderbilt or PJ Washington to the NBA Draft and miss on EJ Montgomery, Calipari should take a serious look at Brown, who is ranked 16th overall by 247 Sports Composite.
