Will Quade Green transfer?
That’s a question many around Lexington are pondering these days. Part of it is due to John Calipari showing interesting in seemingly every point guard in 2019 that ‘could’ reclassify into 2018.
But part of it is also from rumors that have been swirling since UK’s season ended that Green was considering a transfer. If that came to be, one would think schools like Syracuse and Villanova would be in consideration, being that they were strongly in the running for Green in high school before he picked UK.
Well, a previous tie to Villanova could actually make La Salle a possible landing spot, according to Robert Snyder of NBC Sports. That’s because Ashley Howard, who was on Villanova’s staff at the time of Green’s recruitment, was just named the head coach of La Salle this offseason.
That would make sense, though you have to wonder if Green is really considering a transfer, is a smaller school like La Salle where he really wants to end up?
Maybe. That would be the kind of school where Green would likely be the most talented player every year, and he wouldn’t have to worry about getting passed over by other talented guard, ala Shai Gilgeous-Alexander this past season, and possibly Ashton Hagans and/or Immanuel Quickley next season.
In the end, I would still venture to guess Green stays in Lexington, but until he shoots these rumors down altogether and says he’s coming back, they’ll likely persist into the summer.
SEC Country’s Kyle Tucker doesn’t think there’s much to the La Salle rumor, but the transfer rumors are very real.
Talking to folks about Quade Green to La Salle rumor, I've been met with a lot of eye rolls. The possibility he leaves UK is real - although Calipari is trying to keep him - but if he goes, most agree his options will be better than La Salle, even with connections/location.
