Quickies: Rick Pitino to Siena(?) Edition

Pitino seems to have more interest than initially thought in the Siena job.

NCAA Basketball: Louisville at North Carolina Bob Donnan-USA TODAY Sports

Rick Pitino recently did an interview with Chris Churchill of the Times Union in Albany, New York, and Pitino used the interview to not deny that he’s interested in the Siena job.

When asked specifically about Siena, he sounded more than open to the prospect.

“The only thing I’m looking for, wherever I’m going to coach, is to impact the lives of people in some positive way,” Pitino said. “I’m not looking to become wealthy. I’m not looking to be famous. I want to impact lives.”

That isn’t a no, you’ll notice.

The context to this interview is pretty hilarious. Churchill wrote a column about what it would be like having Pitino in Alabany, and included a bit about Pitino possibly meeting women at coffee shops.

That didn’t fly with Pitino, so he called Churchill to defend himself ... and then did an interview.

You can check out the full interview linked below.

Making The Case For Wenyen Gabriel To Stay Or Go | Kentucky Sports Radio
Of the NBA decisions remaining, the one I'm probably dreading the most is Wenyen Gabriel's. On today's show, Matt Jones said he's hearing that, in the very near future, Wenyen will announce that he is going to the draft and signing with an agent, ending his two-year career as a Kentucky Wildcat. After getting to know Wenyen, I wouldn't judge him for that one bit, but it would really suck to lose a valuable veteran, a rarity on the roster these days.
