2019 may prove to be a record for recruits who at least considered reclassifying, especially ones with UK in the mix.
You already know about Ashton Hagans, Tyrese Maxey and James Wiseman. At least one of them is almost certain to reclassify and join UK next season.
What about Jalen Lecque?
The five-star guard in the 2019 class has openly admitted he’s considering a move into 2018, and UK is among the schools involved. Back in December, Lecque said that those odds are around “50-50,” according to USA Today’s Jason Jordan.
“Academically, I’m good to go,” Lecque told Jordan. “It’s all about my development. Right now, I’d say I’m 50-50 on moving up to 2018.”
However, there hasn’t been much to report about Lecque and UK lately...until now.
According to 247 Sports’ Andrew Slater, UK had an in-home visit with Lecque on Saturday. This is actually the third reported time that UK will have met with Lecque since late January.
That’s a pretty good indicator that Lecque is high on UK’s recruiting big board right now. But despite said interest, Lecque doesn’t yet have a scholarship offer from UK.
Now, part of that is probably due to UK not knowing which class he’ll be part of, and it’s unclear which class UK prefers him in.
Regardless, there continues to be interest between both sides, so this will be a recruitment to watch for going into the summer.
