The Kentucky Wildcats will face the North Carolina Tar Heels in the 2018 CBS Sports Classic.
UNC just announced their non-conference schedule on Monday, and it includes a Dec. 22 matchup with UK in Chicago for the annual event.
The rotation is changing a bit this year, as it previously had UK facing UCLA, Ohio State then UNC for the event in that order. UK just played UCLA last season after playing UNC the previous season, so Ohio State would in theory be this year’s opponent.
Instead, it will be UNC in the Windy City. The Tar Heels are projected to have a top-15 team next season, and they’ll rely heavily on senior forwards Luke Maye and Cameron Johnson.
UNC is also adding five-star wing Nassir Little, who is ranked No. 2 overall in the final Rivals 150. The Way-Too-Early USA Today Poll has UK checking in at No. 7 and UNC at No. 9.
UK’s full non-conference schedule will be announced at a later day, but for now, it includes matchups with UNC, Duke, Louisville, Seton Hall and likely West Virginia in the Big 12/SEC Challenge.
