While he is technically not the only 2019 commit for the Kentucky Wildcats, D.J. Jeffries is the only 2019 commit that is likely to remain in that class.
Jeffries participated in the MADE (Maximizing Athletes Development & Exposure) Hoops Warm Up in Arkansas this weekend, and he really stood out.
Brian Snow of 247Sports was on hand for the early action on Saturday, and here were his observations:
It was a good day for Jeffries who had several impressive finishes around the rim. Jeffries looked a bit more athletic than he was a year ago, and was definitely more locked in on both ends of the floor. At around 6-foot-7, Jeffries is someone who will play both forward positions during his time in college. He can handle the ball fairly well for a guard, and also will rebound against taller players. When focused he is someone with a lot of ability, and he showed that talent on Saturday.
Jeffries plays with the Bluff City Legends (formerly Team Penny) out of Tennessee, and is very close to fellow 2019 recruit James Wiseman. Jeffries is listed as high as 17th overall in the 2019 class by ESPN, although position rankings are tough as he is listed at either forward position by various outlets.
Hailing from Olive Branch, Mississippi, Jeffries verbally committed to Kentucky on March 12th, although he technically cannot sign until December. Some believe Penny Hardaway will make a run for Jeffries now that he is the head coach for the Memphis Tigers, but for now there is no reason to question his commitment.
Here are some highlights to enjoy of the future Wildcat.
