John Calipari to visit James Wiseman; is reclassification still possible?

Cal is set to visit the No. 1 player in 2019, who may still be in play for 2018.

It’s been two weeks since ESPN’s Jeff Goodman wrote a story about Duke’s Mike Krzyzewski owning Kentucky’s John Calipari in recruiting.

Since then, Calipari has landed E.J. Montgomery (2018) and Ashton Hagans (2019) with Hagans likely reclassifying for this coming season. He also has scored home visits with 2019 recruit Tyrese Maxey, who said Kentucky is in “great shape” to land him.

Per Pat Lawless, John Calipari has now scored a home visit with the top recruit of 2019, James Wiseman.

Wiseman is from Memphis, TN and the coaching hire of Penny Hardaway is making things “warmer” for the Calipari’s former employer, the Memphis Tigers. However, per 247 Sports, 56% are predicting Wiseman commits to Kentucky.

If Calipari can land both Maxey and Wiseman, he’d have the No. 1 and 13 ranked recruits (assuming Hagans reclassifies). That’s not to mention 26th ranked D.J. Jeffries who committed to Kentucky last month.

It’s worth noting that 247 Sports had an interesting tidbit on Wiseman’s reclassification prospects:

And while the top player in the 2019 247Sports Composite, James Wiseman, continues to deny that he’ll reclassify, there’s still a thought line out there that Wiseman could jump into the 2018 class.

Here is the list of players who have received an offer from Kentucky for the 2019 season.
