It’s been a wild and memorable SEC Tournament thus far, and we’ve still got three more games to decide a champion.
Saturday will feature a pair of semifinal games, as Alabama faces Kentucky to kick things off. The Crimson Tide have been the Cinderella story of the league tournament thus far. After winning at the buzzer against Texas A&M on Thursday, the Tide trailed by 10 at halftime of their Friday matchup with Auburn.
That is, until the Tide rolled to a 50-22 second-half beatdown en route to an 81-63 victory. If we’re going off how teams look Friday, there’s no question Alabama looks like the SEC’s most dangerous team right now behind rising superstar Collin Sexton.
Kentucky will look to silence that as they’re back in the semifinal round for the eighth time in nine seasons under John Calipari. They’ve advanced to the championship game on all eight occasions, but Sexton and Alabama will look to end that streak.
Tennessee is now the top seed remaining after narrowly beating Mississippi State in Friday’s action. They’ll be the slight favorite to win the championship after sharing the regular-season crown with Auburn.
Arkansas hammered Florida to cap off the night and advance to Saturday’s date with the Vols. Arkansas won the first matchup in overtime when the two played in Fayetteville.
