Kentucky has had a weird year.
From injuries, to injury recovery, to losing streaks to winning streaks, it’s been up and down. At one point the Wildcats looked like they’d miss the tournament. Then they looked like they might be the best team in the SEC.
After their loss to the Florida Gators, it’s hard to figure out where they fit and how good they are.
A double-bye gives them an automatic spot in the quarterfinals, where UK will play the the Georgia Bulldogs.
Making this matchup even though for UK is that Jarred Vanderbilt is doubtful to play, and Georgia has SEC Player of the Year Yante Maten waiting to wreak havoc in the paint. Winning this game will be no easy task, and UK had a tough enough time beating the Dawgs in Rupp Arena earlier this season.
And even if the Wildcats get past the quarterfinal, they’ve got the No. 1 seed Auburn Tigers after that (barring an upset by the Alabama Crimson Tide).
Then in the SEC title game would likely be a matchup with the Tennessee Volunteers or Florida Gators, two teams that went a combined 4-0 vs the Cats in the regular season.
If UK manages to get further than that, there’s no telling how far this team can go. Even with Vanderbilt sidelined, they’ve got enough firepower to make it to Sunday and win the league.
Saying all of this, how far do you think the Kentucky Wildcats will make it in the SEC Tournament?
