Kentucky Wildcats head coach John Calipari will be awarded the National Association of Basketball Coaches’ Metropolitan Award at the Final Four this Sunday, the school announced in a press release.

This storied award is presented to those who have given significant contributions to college basketball throughout their life. The Metropolitan Basketball Association first presented the Metropolitan Award in 1941 to City College of New York coach Nat Holman.

Calipari will join basketball legends John Wooden, Dean Smith and Phog Allen among others as winners of the award. UK legends Adolph Rupp (1966) and C.M. Newton (1995) have also taken home this award.

The award will be presented to Calipari at the annual NABC Guardians of the Game Awards Show on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. ET at the Lila Cockrell Theater in San Antonio, site of the 2018 NCAA Tournament Men’s Final Four.

The awards show will be streamed live on Facebook.
