Now that the offseason is here, John Calipari will begin focusing on adding to the 2018 class and ensuring UK remains a Final Four contender next season.

The biggest remaining target in 2018 is one E.J. Montgomery, who is considering UK, Duke, North Carolina and Vanderbilt among others. He’s already taken an unofficial visit to UK, and it sounds like another trip to Lexington is coming soon.

In an interview with Rivals, Montgomery gave the latest update on his recruitment, where he said he plans on taking more official visits, and that includes UK. Montgomery also talked about the unofficial visit he took back on Feb. 24, which went very well by all accounts.

Montgomery, who is ranked as high as No. 6 overall by 247 Sports, would be a monster addition to whoever he picks, but for UK, it may not be as big of a game-changer depending on who stays and leaves for the NBA Draft.

If UK returns PJ Washington, Jarred Vanderbilt, Nick Richards and Sacha Killeya-Jones, getting Montgomery would still be great, but it becomes much less of a need for next season.

But if any of those guys leave for one reason or another, then getting Montgomery becomes much more essential for next season.

For now, Duke still leads the 247 Crystal Ball for Montgomery with nine of 10 predictions.
