Quickies: SEC Champs Edition

John Calipari has won his fourth straight SEC Tournament championship, and this one may have been the most impressive. With the youngest team he’s had, his Wildcats ran through the tournament with back-to-back double-digit wins before the Tennessee Volunteers held UK close, but ultimately couldn’t stop the Cats.

This comes in a year that Calipari not only has his youngest team, but also in a year that the SEC put a conference-record eight teams into the NCAA Tournament. UK, UT, the Missouri Tigers, the Auburn Tigers, the Florida Gators, the Alabama Crimson Tide, the Arkansas Razorbacks and the Texas A&M Aggies all made the field of 68 this year (Calipari called eight, and the SEC got eight).

That’s a pretty huge deal, and the Wildcats now have a lot of momentum going into round one.
