The Kentucky Wildcats have scored a big commitment in the Class of 2018.

On Wednesday, UK received a National Letter of Intent from four-star recruit Christopher Oats, one of their top targets in this class.

Oats, who hails from Winton Woods in Cincinnati (OH), is a four-star prospect by ESPN, Rivals and 247 Sports. He holds offers from Michigan, Ohio State, Michigan State, Georgia, Miami, West Virginia and Oklahoma among many others.

Oats is a four-star recruit at ESPN, 247 Sports and Rivals. This is easily UK’s biggest commitment on defense in the 2018 class, and he could make an immediate impact as a true freshman.

Here is Oats’ scouting report from ESPN:

STRENGTHS: Possesses elite height and length. Long strider who makes plays all over the field. Displays the foot quickness to make plays in space. Flashes the ability to stick in man coverage and has the ball skills to make plays. Looks to blow up ball carriers and wraps effectively.

AREAS OF IMPROVEMENT: Needs to add bulk and functional strength. Must refine his drop and get more experience in pass protection.

BOTTOM LINE: Oats is a rangy 'backer with a high ceiling for development. Once he adds bulk and polish, he could be a big-time player for a Power 5 program.
