The Duke Blue Devils just suffered arguably the biggest upset of the 2017-18 college hoops season.
It came on the road to a St. John's team that was 10-13 and had lost their first 11 Big East games. On the morning edition of College GameDay, the crew predicted that Duke would have the biggest margin of victory of any college team today.
So of course, staying true to form in what’s been the wildest hoops season in recent memory, the biggest upset came in the most improbable scenario.
The Red Storm have been without one of their best players in Marcus LoVett, who was averaging 15 points per game before being lost for the season.
But on this day, the best player was Shamorie Ponds, who finished with a game-high 33 points, and it was just enough to beat fourth-ranked Duke.
So much for Duke’s latest preseason superteam.
