Kentucky Basketball runs incredible promo commercial during NBA All-Star Weekend

BBNBA is on full display in Los Angeles this week.

National Basketball Association

In case you haven’t heard, former Kentucky Wildcats in the NBA that played for John Calipari have contracts worth more than A BILLION DOLLARS total.

If you think about the NBA salary guidelines, that is not hard to believe considering that there are 26 former Wildcats in the league.

It is also no surprise that several former Wildcats are headlining the NBA All-Star weekend, which is currently in progress in Los Angeles.

De’Aaron Fox and Jamal Murray (last season’s Rising Stars Game MVP) took part in the Rising Stars Game on Friday, Devin Booker won the 3-Point Contest on Saturday, Murray was a part of the Taco Bell Skills Challenge, and Anthony Davis and Karl-Anthony Towns are playing for opposing teams in the headlining All-Star Game on Sunday. DeMarcus Cousins and John Wall were both selected for the game, but will not participate due to injury.

With so many Wildcats in the league and participating in this celebratory weekend, the University of Kentucky chose to produce an outstanding commercial to highlight the program’s impact on the NBA. You can view it below, courtesy of none other than Tod Lanter.

It could be that UK wants to celebrate the accomplishments of former athletes, or perhaps it is an elaborate recruiting tool. More than likely, it’s both. Regardless, it is very cool to see all of the Kentucky guys back in blue and white. Coach Cal has often joked about having half of the All-Star Game participants be former Kentucky players. While that does not seem likely soon, watching the All-Star festivities this weekend actually make it seem like more of a possibility.

Catch all of your favorite former Wildcats in NBA All-Star Weekend action on TNT. The actual All-Star Game begins at 8 p.m. on Sunday.
