Kentucky Wildcats vs Alabama Crimson Tide Game Thread

Kentucky desperately needs this one.

NCAA Basketball: Kentucky at Auburn John Reed-USA TODAY Sports

Kentucky is set to square off against the Alabama Crimson Tide at 2 p.m. today. The Wildcats desperately need a win over a quality Crimson Tide to get themselves back to .500 in conference play.

Kentucky is a 4.5-point favorite, but it won’t be an easy task to cover, or even win the game. Alabama shares an identical 17-9 record with Kentucky and the Tide boast five top-25 wins and just one top-25 loss (in which Alabama finished the game playing three-on-five).

Kentucky comes in having lost four straight, and the Wildcats would certainly be in a bad place in the NCAA Tournament picture if they dropped a fifth straight.

A lot hinges on this game: If Kentucky loses, this probably becomes John Calipari’s worst season at Kentucky. The Cats win, and, well the at-large bid tournament hopes would probably get a bit better.

Hey, Kentucky is losing a lot more games than usual, but at least (for now) they’re not taking major losses off the court, so things could be a lot worse than they are.

Right now, the Wildcats are still a tournament team. Here’s how they stay there.
