Is Shai Alexander the biggest surprise one-and-done player in the country?

NCAA Basketball: Georgia at Kentucky Mark Zerof-USA TODAY Sports

This upcoming draft is going to be loaded with one-and-done talent from schools all over the country. Could Shai be the biggest surprise one-and-done guy out there?

Corey Evans of Rivals seems to think so. Here’s an excerpt explaining why Shai is a reputable prospect for the NBA:

“Thanks to his continued development and work ethic, the Canadian has become a respectable 35-percent shooter from distance, while making nearly half of his field goal tries. Toss in solid averages of more than 13 points, three rebounds, four assists and close to two steals per game, along with great measurables, and Alexander’s NBA profile continues to strengthen.”

Shai was supposed to be a project that stayed at Kentucky for a couple years. That changed quickly. He’s now expected to get drafted anywhere between 17 and 21, and there’s still plenty more basketball to be played.

Gilgeous-Alexander is Kentucky’s most consistent player. Night in and night out you know what you’re going to get from him, and that’s a big reason you’re seeing his draft stock continue to rise.

With that being said, don’t worry. If Shai does choose the NBA path, Immanuel Quickley will be here next year to fill in along with Quade Green who is likely coming back for his sophomore season.

We’ll make sure you know everything there is to know about Shai’s future as a Wildcat!
