Kentucky is on the road once again tonight, as they prepare for a Valentine’s Day showdown with the top team in the SEC, the Auburn Tigers.
The Tigers have been one of the major surprises of the college basketball season. Many thought the season would fall apart when the program was wrapped up in the FBI investigation involving assistant coach Chuck Person and two of their top players (sophomores Austin Wiley and Danjel Purifoy) were ruled ineligible. Things seemed even more bleak when Auburn lost an exhibition game to DII Barry University (Fla.).
But the Tigers, under head coach Bruce Pearl, have rallied to take control of the SEC with a 22-3 (10-2 SEC) record, holding a two-game lead over second place Tennessee and Florida.
Kentucky will come into what will undoubtedly be a raucous environment at Auburn. They lost their last matchup at Auburn Arena in 2016 when the Tigers upset the #14 ranked Wildcats at the time.
This time, it will be the Wildcats looking to pull off a road upset against the Tigers, ranked 10th in the country and garnering discussion as a potential one-seed come NCAA Tournament time.
The Wildcats will have their hands full against an Auburn squad that averages more than 85 points per game, which is tied for 8th in the country, and shoots 39 percent from the perimeter as a team, while only giving up just over 72 points per game.
A win would give Kentucky arguably their biggest win of the season, and calm a lot of unrest about the team not receiving a bid for the NCAA Tournament, but a loss would give Kentucky their fourth consecutive loss, something that hasn’t happened since BCG’s last year.

John Calipari wants more out of P.J. Washington, and I think we can all agree. Here is what he had to say about Washington recently.
What does this team need? Well that’s the question we’re all asking. Maybe it’s someone with an attitude like Tyler Ulis.
New bracket projections from Joe Lunardi have Kentucky as an 8-seed, but the draw isn’t terrible.
