The latest AP Top 25 poll is out, and to no surprise, the Kentucky Wildcats are out of it.
After losing back-to-back games last week, the Cats are back out of the top 25 for the second time this season. The good news is the first time they fell out, they won at No. 7 West Virginia (now ranked 19th).
Now that Kentucky is unranked again, they’ll play at No. 10 Auburn this Wednesday. It feels like this is a must-win game for the Cats if they’re going to salvage what’s becoming a lost season.
As for the rest of the SEC, Tennessee checked in at No. 18, while Texas A&M comes in at No. 21. Seeing the Aggies back in the top 25 does make it a tad easier to stomach Kentucky’s debacle in College Station this past weekend.
And more good news: After Kentucky’s game at Auburn on Wednesday, the Cats won’t face another team currently ranked in the top 25 in the regular season. While the Cats have eight losses, four of them are to teams that are currently in the top 25, and another one was to Florida, who is right on the edge of top-25 status.
